Privacy Policy

Your privacy matters. This policy explains what we collect, why, and how we protect it.

1. Who we are

mahj.events (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the marketing website at mahj.events and the application at app.mahj.events(together, the “Service”). mahj.events is operated as a DBA based in Austin, Texas.

2. Information we collect

Information you provide

  • Account information — name, email address, and password when you create an account on app.mahj.events.
  • Waitlist & newsletter sign-ups — email address and the page where you signed up.
  • Game & group data — games you create or join, groups you manage, player lists, and hand-tracking records.
  • Payment information — when you purchase a paid plan or make a payment through the Service, your payment details are collected and processed directly by our payment processor, Stripe. We do not store your full card number on our servers.
  • Communications — any messages or feedback you send to us via email.

Information collected automatically

  • Usage data — pages visited, features used, referring URLs, and general interaction patterns, collected through Vercel Analytics and similar tools.
  • Device & browser data — browser type, operating system, screen size, and language preference.
  • Cookies & tracking technologies— we use first-party cookies and similar technologies to understand how visitors use our site and improve the Service. We may also use third-party pixels (such as the Meta Pixel) to measure advertising effectiveness. See Section 6 for details.

3. How we use your information

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Service.
  • Process transactions and send related confirmations and receipts.
  • Send you product updates, newsletters, and marketing communications (you can opt out at any time).
  • Respond to your questions, comments, and support requests.
  • Monitor usage trends and analyze aggregate data to improve features and performance.
  • Measure and improve the effectiveness of our advertising.
  • Detect, prevent, and address fraud or technical issues.
  • Comply with legal obligations.

4. How we share your information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with the following categories of third parties only as described below:

  • Service providers— companies that help us operate the Service, including Supabase (database & authentication), Vercel (hosting & analytics), Stripe (payments), and Resend (transactional email).
  • Advertising partners— aggregated or de-identified data shared with advertising platforms (e.g., Meta) to measure campaign performance. These partners may use cookies and pixels as described in Section 6.
  • Legal requirements — when required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of mahj.events or others.
  • Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

5. Payments & Stripe Connect

Certain features of the Service allow hosts and instructors to collect payments from players through Stripe Connect. When you make a payment to a host or instructor, Stripe processes your payment information in accordance with Stripe’s Privacy Policy. We receive limited transaction details (amount, date, and status) but do not have access to your full payment card information.

6. Cookies & tracking technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies for the following purposes:

  • Essential cookies — required for authentication, security, and core functionality.
  • Analytics cookies — help us understand how visitors interact with our site (e.g., Vercel Web Analytics).
  • Advertising cookies & pixels— we may use third-party pixels (e.g., Meta Pixel) to measure the effectiveness of our ads and deliver relevant content.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling certain cookies may limit your ability to use some features of the Service.

7. Data retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal, accounting, or fraud-prevention purposes.

8. Your rights & choices

Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights regarding your personal information:

  • Access & portability — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction — ask us to update inaccurate or incomplete information.
  • Deletion — request that we delete your personal data, subject to certain exceptions.
  • Opt out of marketing — unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the link in each email, or by contacting us.
  • Opt out of sale/sharing— we do not sell your personal information. If we share data with advertising partners in a way that constitutes a “sale” or “sharing” under applicable law, you may opt out by contacting us.

9. Security

We use commercially reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information, including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100 percent secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Children’s privacy

The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at hello@mahj.events and we will promptly delete it.

11. California privacy rights

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA) grant you additional rights, including the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete it, and the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of your data. To exercise these rights, contact us at hello@mahj.events. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you by email or through the Service. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
